What Our Clients Are Saying
"I came through the Genesis inpatient program and then transitioned here to Helix sober living. It's been almost four months since I moved in and it's been a great experience. The house is in a really nice neighborhood in La Mesa, close to Grossmont Center. As residents we have plenty of space in our individual rooms and the common areas. We're provided with all the essentials like coffee, paper towels, cable tv, and cleaning supplies."...Read more

The house is in a really nice neighborhood in La Mesa, close to Grossmont Center. As residents we have plenty of space in our individual rooms and the common areas. We're provided with all the essentials like coffee, paper towels, cable tv, and cleaning supplies. I live with a great group of guys who are serious about their recovery. We hang out together. We help and support each other. We're given both freedom and structure at the house. Every week the house manager leads us in a house meeting where we share about how we're doing, discuss house issues, and split up our chores. We go to AA/NA meetings and bible studies throughout the week with other members of our community. Friday nights we go to a bonfire in Pacific Beach and listen to different speakers share their testimonies. Sunday is church day. Residents are encouraged to find jobs and to work. When we're not at house-required meetings and functions, our time is our own. Sober living is a great way to transition from treatment back to independent living. The structure provides continued guidance in early recovery and prevents the freedom from being overwhelming. Frequent contact with the rest of our community keeps us plugged in and helps us grow a network of clean and sober friends. My success in recovery so far is in large part to this house and the people in it and I plan on staying for awhile."

"A year and a half ago I was seeking more in my life. I was tired of isolating and desperately wanted a community and structure. By the grace of God, I found Genesis, and went to the inpatient treatment facility. From there I tapered down to Outpatient and then to sober living, where I am now. Just a short time ago, I could never have imagined that I would be so embedded into the solid and faith based community that I am now."...Read more

I have been at the Helix house for over a year because of what it provides me, community and accountability. I am around some of the same guys I went to treatment with because all of the houses attend certain meetings and bible studies. I truly feel part of a community.Having outside meetings and a house meeting once per week keep me occupied with constructive activities and out of idle time, yet I still have the time to branch out on my own by surfing with friends or riding my motorcycle with other guys I have met through Genesis.
The house itself is a good deal, as utilities, coffee, a washing machine and dryer, and paper towels, etc. are all included in the rent. My house manager Aaron is compassionate and understanding. He allows for me to explore new meetings and churches so that I can find a good fit for me. His recovery is strong, as is his faith. The other guys are all respectful and friendly. We are all on a similar path and have a good understanding of what each other is going through.
While I am keeping my eyes open for next steps in my living situation, I am in no rush to leave this house. I feel content about where God has me, and am patiently waiting for whatever sign he gives me that it is time to move on."

"My name is Jonah and I’ve been staying at the sober living at 4683 Cass St for 6 months now. It is a very nice location and facility. The beds are comfortable and living space is clean and modern. But the most important part is the fact that everyone is sober with a great house manager to guide us through the beginnings of our recovery. We work together as a group to learn how to live life a better way and sort out the problems we face without a drug or drink. We attend 12 step meetings together and are encouraging of each other in that process of personal growth. I have not seen a better sober living in San Diego. I’m grateful to be a part of this home and this community of love and support"
